One of Birmingham’s most popular bar concepts of the last 10 years and home to many of the cities early adopters. Our job was to refresh the brand to recognise the change in trading format from mainly night time drinking to all day eating & drinking. The smoking ban in the UK has meant that food has been given a new lease of life and we wanted to move Mechu forward and evolve its Grill offer to reflect these changes. The bar oozes sex appeal both from its interior, its brand communication, its service style and it customers. A risque, sassy, confident yet approachable positioning meant we were able to have fun with the new identity using minimal copy and suggestive imagery to communicate core policies.
